The year 1837 to 1901 is known as the Victorian era. This period lasted for sixty-four years, which also marked the reign of young Victoria over England. And this is also the era which was marked to be the most complicated and fastest changing jewellery fashions the world has ever experienced.

The jewellery designs during those era was divided into three categories; the Romantic period—which showed jewellery with complex engravings, enamel work and serpentine designs; the Grand period—with most of the jewellery had dark, sombre themes; and the Late Victorian period—where diamonds ruled and jewellery pieces were bizarre and dazzling.
