Victorian Era
The jewellery styles of the Victorian era were said to be divided into three periods: the romantic period, the grand period and the late Victorian. Jewellery of the romantic period was bold accented with turquoise beads and corals. Darker tones and the use of dark onyx and deep red garnets convey deep mourning when Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria died. Lastly, the mourning phase was ended in the late Victoria period. Sparkling diamonds were set in beautiful brooches, enamelled flowers, and crescent moons. Diamond studded insects, animals and stars were the general concept followed by jewellers to fully forget the sober period.
